It is no secret that the sport of basketball is an integral part of Arjun and Shraddha Kapoor’s love story in Half Girlfriend. The filmmakers even officially tied up with USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA ). Associating with the best, it was natural for the Kapoors to be trained by professional coaches to improve their basketball skills.
Arjun, who plays the character of Madhav Jha in Half Girlfriend, posted a video of how he rediscovered his love for basketball.
“I used to play the sport at school but didn’t have the confidence. It took me a month to just learn dribbling,” says Arjun. More was thrown at Arjun.
"They had various activities. While I was dribbling, they used to throw the tennis ball at me, but I had to keep dribbling. Thereafter, I was dribbling with two basketballs and made sure that we reached at least 100 (dribbles),” he added.
Arjun credited the film for helping him rediscover his love for the sport. He says, "It’s a fantastic sport and I love playing it. I’m so glad that my passion for basketball came back. I have rediscovered the joy of basketball again thanks to Half Girlfriend."
Directed by Mohit Suri, Half Girlfriend is based on Chetan Bhagat’s book of the same name. The film is set to be released on 19 May.
