Sachin A Billion Dreams has had a great first weekend. The film, which is the biopic of former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, has earned Rs23.94 crore approximately, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
It opened at just over Rs7 crore on Friday. Although it earned more on Saturday (Rs7.75 crore), the jump wasn’t much. But the collections did go up on Sunday as the film amassed Rs9 crore. The collections are indeed good, especially considering that the film is a documentary. In fact, it is already the highest grossing documentary in India.
Hollywood movie Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge, which also released on Friday, had a decent weekend, earning Rs14 crore.
Hindi Medium, which released a week before, managed a good second weekend due to the strong positive word-of-mouth. The film has earned Rs10.85 crore in its second weekend. This is almost equal to what it earned on its first weekend (Rs11.50 crore).
The film now stands at Rs34.1 crore, approximately. Made at a budget of only Rs22 crore, the collections are impressive.
Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend was also released in the same week as Hindi Medium. The Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer had a big drop on the second weekend as it managed only Rs4.75 crore. The film now stands at Rs50.75 crore.
