Sachin A Billion Dreams had a very good first day as it earned Rs7 crore, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. Such a number might not appear significant. But considering it is a docu drama, it is indeed impressive.

In fact, no other docu drama has opened so well in the history of Hindi cinema. According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, the last documentary to open well was in 1979. Titled Cinema Cinema, the faces of big stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman drew in big crowds at the time.

Hollywood film, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge, starring Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem, which also released yesterday, did a decent business of around Rs4.25 crore.

But despite the aforementioned two new releases, Hindi Medium managed to earn well on its second Friday. It made approximately Rs2.25 to 2.50 crore, which is equal to its business on its opening day. The film has now earned a total of Rs24.50 crore.

Half Girlfriend, which had also released with Hindi Medium, had a big drop yesterday. The film could manage only Rs1.25 to 1.50 crore. The total for the Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer is currently stands at Rs48.50 crore.
