Box office: Anushka Sharma's Phillauri earns Rs13.50 crore in first weekend

Phillauri’s box office collections have fallen short of expectations even as the film got mixed reviews. The Anushka Sharma-production earned Rs14 crore nett in its opening weekend, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com. Anushka also acts in the film as friendly ghost Shashi.
The collections of Phillauri improved marginally on Sunday (Rs5 crore) to take its three-day total to Rs13.50 crore. Made at a budget of Rs21 crore (including Rs9 crore for marketing), Phillauri released across 1,000 screens in India.
The film had a low opening of Rs3.75 crore on Friday, before improving marginally to Rs4.75 crore on Saturday. Phillauri also stars Diljit Dosanjh, Mehreen Peerzada and Suraj Sharma.
Phillauri is Anushka's second production after NH10 (2015). NH10, too, was a low budget film (Rs13 crore) and the crime drama made Rs33 crore nett.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s Badrinath Ki Dulhania continued a steady run at the box office. The film bagged Rs6.50 crore in its second weekend to take its overall total so far to Rs104.83 crore nett.
