Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar 3 was all set to release on 7 April. The film is the third part in the Sarkar series where Amitabh Bachchan plays the titular role. But the makers have now suddenly decided to postpone the release to 12 May.
The news was revealed by the film’s producers Eros International on Twitter. They wrote, “We, at Eros along with @SrBachchan, @RGVzoomin and Wave took a mutual decision to postpone the release of Sarkar 3 to 12th May 2017!”
The message soon led to speculations over the reason for the sudden delay. Putting an end to the gossip, Eros revealed in another tweet that the film’s pending post-production work is the reason behind the postponement. It read, “This delay is due to delay in post production work! #Sarkar3.”
The main cast of Sarkar 3, barring Bachchan, was supposed to interact with the media today (22 March). But the event was cancelled citing “unforeseen circumstances.”
The new release date for the film has ensured that it will clash with Jagga Jasoos, Meri Pyaari Bindu and Hindi Medium. The three films star Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif, Ayushmann Khurrana-Parineeti Chopra and Irrfan Khan, respectively.
As Hindi Medium isn’t considered to be a box office threat, the tussle will be between Sarkar 3, Jagga Jasoos and Meri Pyaari Bindu. It will be the first triple clash at the box office after a long time if all the films keep the date.
