Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father, Krishnaraj Rai, passed away today at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital following prolonged illness. According to reports, the actress’s spokesperson has confirmed the news.
Krishnaraj Rai was admitted a couple of weeks back after he reportedly started suffering from a recurrence of cancer. Reports also claimed that he was supposed to be discharged after a couple of weeks. However, his health started deteriorating and he was recently shifted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) where he was put on ventilator.
He is survived by daughter Aishwarya, son Aditya and wife, Vrinda.
Each year, the festival of Holi is celebrated in a grand way by the Bachchans. But this year they didn’t celebrate owing to Krishnaraj Rai’s health conditions.
Krishnaraj Rai was recently visited by Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Ajitabh Bachchan, Kunal Kapoor, Sikander Kher and Mickey Contractor. He was hospitalized in January this year too due to similar health issues.
