Alia Bhatt is at the peak of her career, but the actress will take a six-month break before shooting for her next project begins in September.
With fine performances in films like Highway (2014), Kapoor & Sons, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi (all in 2016) and the recently released Badrinath Ki Dulhania, she has made sure she features in the list of top actresses. Normally, when an actor is doing well in his or her career, they prefer to sign new films and keep up the momentum by continuing the good work. Bhatt is also probably flooded with offers.
However, Bhatt is inclined to follow another path and will take a long break. Speaking to a publication, she said, “That’s right. My next, Ayan Mukerji’s Dragon starts in September. Until then, I am going to be bettering my craft, learning new skills, imbibing untried experiences. I want to be more equipped as an actor. I realise acting is not just about what you do when you’re facing the camera. There’s a lot more thought that goes into it. I am trying to gather as many experiences as possible.”
She has cooking on her mind too. “Whenever guests drop in I feel inadequate because I am unable to cook for them. Not just that. I want to cook for myself also. I feel it is an essential part of my progress towards a complete life," she said and added that she will learn to play the piano and learn Kathak too.
Bhatt also spoke about living separately yet being close to her parents Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan. "My parents live just a stone’s throw away. And you know what? I feel I am able to give them more focused time now that I don’t live with them. Earlier, I’d take their presence in the house for granted. Now every second that I am not with them, I am reminded of the distance. So whatever time I spend with them, I make sure I am all there,” she said.
