Producer Boney Kapoor’s Twitter handle was allegedly hacked on 3 March. As he was out of country on Wednesday (8 March), a member of his staff has now filed an FIR (First Information Report) with the cyber crime department in Mumbai. He is likely to return to the city today and look into the matter.
According to reports, the unknown person allegedly hacked into Kapoor’s Twitter account and sent a message to Kapoor’s friends from the industry and members of the media. The hacker asked them to transfer money into his e-wallet account to raise funds for a show in Lucknow.
A police officer was quoted by a publication saying, “The imposter even shared a contact number, which is now switched off, to make the money transfer. When those receiving the messages enquired the reason for it, they were told that it was for a show in Lucknow.”
Investigations have revealed that the number is registered in Gujarat.
Kapoor came to know about the incident after a friend alerted him. The cyber police officer also revealed that Kapoor’s Twitter account was inactive since September 2015.
On the work front, Kapoor’s last film was Tevar (2015), which starred his son, Arjun Kapoor in the lead.
