At the Tubelight trailer launch, Salman Khan spoke about how he was saddened and shocked by the sudden death of veteran actor Om Puri. Tubelight was the last film that Puri shot with Salman Khan. As the film nears it release, it will be an emotional moment for Salman to watch the veteran actor on the screen.
Salman and his brother Sohail were out to promote their film at a noted radio station. Salman recalled his last moments with the veteran. He drew parallels between another great, Amrish Puri.
“I remember while filming Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) Amrish Puri ji telling me that he’s not keeping well and he wants to wind up the shoot fast as he had other work to be done. Shortly, he passed away. It was the same here. Om Puri ji look very disturbed. He told me that he’s erred in some interview, he wanted to say something but ended up saying something else that left him embarrassed. He said he had apologised, but it didn’t help. I remember him telling me that from 4 January, he will leave behind everything and will come back fresher. And then one morning, he was gone,” said Salman with a lump in his throat.
“I heard he tripped in his house but there was no one with him. At that age, someone has to be there with you,” added Salman.
Meanwhile, the brothers confessed to not being fond of horror films. Leave aside films, Salman still gets the jitters while in the dark. “Last few days there were power cuts. Today, you have your mobile phone have torch, but you have always that strange feeling that someone is behind you. And when you turn around, there’s no one but then you feel someone is there on the other side. I don’t watch horror films,” said Salman. Brother Sohail didn’t hesitate to admit that as kids they feared watching horror film.
Tubelight will be released on 23 June.
