The two actors will come together for a film that is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make In India campaign.
Anushka Sharma, Varun Dhawan to sew new bond in YRF's Sui Dhaaga

A day after Yash Raj Films (YRF) announced another project with Parineeti Chopra (Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar), the film production house has announced a new project with another one of their finds, Anushka Sharma.
The Phillauri (2017) actress who made her debut with YRF’S Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), will team up with Varun Dhawan for Sui Dhaaga. For Dhawan, this will be a maiden collaboration with both, YRF and Sharma.
While Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a film that is in line with the Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Movement), Sui Dhaaga is said to be inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Made In Indian campaign. Sui Dhaga will be directed by Sharat Katariya and co-produced by Maneesh Sharma. The duo had earlier collaborated successfully on Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015).
“From Gandhiji to Modiji, our country's leaders have always endorsed the mantra of Make In India. With Sui Dhaaga I am proud to take their message to millions of movie lovers in a manner that is entertaining and relevant. I really liked the script Sharat had written and I am happy that I am teaming up with YRF on this movie. Anushka and I are teaming up for the first time so I am sure there will be fireworks,” said Dhawan.
“I always get excited with unique ideas that have human interest stories. Sui Dhaaga is a story of self-reliance that I believe will connect at the grassroots level with every Indian. And am really looking forward to work with Varun Dhawan and the team of Maneesh Sharma and Sharat Katariya," said Sharma.
Producer Sharma said, "This story finds its roots in the heart of India, and reflects the passion that runs through the veins of every single Indian. Sui Dhaaga is a story that will resonate with all of us, and with Varun and Anushka I think we've found just the right vehicles to tell it.”
Sui Dhaaga (needle and thread) is also symbolic with Mahatma Gandhi's swadeshi movement, and so the film will be released on Gandhi Jayanti (2 October) in 2018.
