The year 2017 has been very successful for Irrfan Khan with his movies making the mark in Hindi cinema, as well as in international cinema.

Khan's latest international venture, Mostafa Sarwar Farooki's Doob — No Bed Of Roses is making quite the mark on the world stage. The film has already earned critical appreciation before it's worldwide release.

Having made its world premiere at the Shanghai Film Festival earlier this month, the film was also screened at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival, where it has been awarded the prestigious Kommersant Weekend prize. The jury headed by Andrei Plakhov, Honorary President, International Federation of Film Critics presented the film with this honour.

Despite its critical appreciation, the film remains banned in Bangladesh due to its similiarity to the life story of late writer Humayun Ahmed.

The film, and Khan's performance in particular, has received positive praise from the international audience.

Film magazine, Hollywood Reporter, in its first international review of the film, appreciated Khan's performance saying: "It takes an actor of Irrfan Khan's stature and magnetism to turn an intimate separation drama into something special, and a writer-director like Bangladesh's happy maverick Mostofa Sarwar Farooki to layer on subtleties and shades of meaning with realistic detachment that never slips into melodrama."

Speaking about his experience of the film, director Farooki said,"Making No Bed of Roses was literally a no bed of roses for me. But I am very happy to see top international critics' warm reviews of the film and I have almost forgotten all the troubles we went through. Now I am waiting for the film to release and reach its audience as soon as possible."

Doob — No Bed of Roses also stars Nusrat Imroze Tisha, Rokeya Prachy and Parno Mittra. The film is being produced jointly by Irrfan Khan Films and Eskay Movies.
