Bus Stop trailer: Multi-starrer Marathi film a light-hearted college campus saga

The two angles in the trailer — friendship and conflict between parents — don't quite add to the excitement for the film.

Sanjay Jadhav’s Duniyadari (2013), which turned out to be a blockbuster, gave new hope for college campus dramas in Marathi cinema. Following this film, few other films of this genre got made, but none managed to make it big at the box office. Aditya Sarpotdar’s Classmates (2015) is one such example.

Now, Sameer Hemant Joshi’s Bus Stop is the latest college drama, whose trailer is just out. Going by the trailer, the film looks like a light-hearted youthful saga revolving around a group of college friends played by Aniket Vishwasrao, Amruta Khanvilkar, Siddharth Chandekar, Pooja Sawant and Hemant Dhome.

It seems Bus Stop deals with two aspects. One is the angle of friendship and love, which is a must in such a genre of films. The film is a light-hearted affair, but the humour quotient in the trailer, unfortunately, isn’t as high as one would expect.

The second is the conflict between the parents and the college kids. This part looks outdated. Parents not allowing grown-up kids to have fun is something that was more relevant in the 1990s. By the way, the trailer doesn’t feature a single shot of the friends hanging out at the bus stop, although there are scenes inside the bus.

Due to these reasons, the trailer provides average excitement. We can hope the film will offer more than this trailer.

Bus Stop will be released on 21 July.
