Lucknow Central not the same as Qaidi Band: Watch trailer

The Farhan Akhtar-starrer promises to be an interesting drama surrounding a group of bandmates in jail.

It is unusual to see two films, Qaidi Band and Lucknow Central, based on the idea of jail bands being made simultaneously. Also, both films are claimed to be inspired by true events. Not just that, the release date of both films too is close to each other (25 August and 15 September). Hence, before the trailer of Lucknow Central was released, there were talks that the film might be similar to Qaidi Band.

But after watching the trailer of Lucknow Central, it seems that it has a major difference in terms of the storyline with the other film. Although it has the idea of jail inmates forming a band, there is an important angle of the secret prison break plan. More importantly, the trailer is successful in increasing the anticipation for the film.

Directed by debutant Ranjit Tiwari, Lucknow Central’s star cast boasts of impressive performers. Apart from Farhan Akhtar, it has Deepak Dobriyal, Ronit Roy, Rajesh Sharma, Inaamulhaq and Gippy Grewal. Diana Penty plays the female lead. Known Marathi film actor Uday Tikekar also plays a supporting actor.

There are also fleeting appearances by Bhojpuri stars Ravi Kishan and Manoj Tiwari, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP).

As the film is about band members, it should have more than one hit song. The trailer has a slight feature of the iconic ‘Kawa Kawa’ song from Monsoon Wedding (2001).
