In an interview with a tabloid, Kapoor confesses that he goes by his gut instinct while signing up for a film and that taking risks has always paid off.
Once touted to be the next big star, a potential successor to the Khans, Ranbir Kapoor has faced some tough times in the last few years. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) stopped the rot for him, but the newly released Jagga Jasoos hasn’t enjoyed a great opening weekend. In an interview with the daily, Mid-Day, before the release of the film, Kapoor stated that he is prepared to face failures owing to his selection of films.
Kapoor was asked whether the obsession for the star system prevents actors from making huge risk-taking decisions, and if that has affected his a career: "Not at all. I can't follow somebody else's career path. In my career, what's always paid off have been the risks. When I've done something formulaic, I've always fallen flat on my face."
When asked about how he decides to sign up for a film, the actor replied, "I just go by gut instinct, which was the same that made me sign on Rocket Singh (2009), Wake Up Sid, (2009), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Rockstar (2011), Rajneeti (2010) and Barfi! (2012). And it was the same instinct that made me sign on Besharam (2013), and Anjaana Anjaani (2010). So, this is the person I am. I am going to have lots of failures in my life; hopefully I'll have some successes too. But I can't really plan anything. I'm just spontaneously living my dream.”
The actor will be next seen in the untitled Sanjay Dutt biopic next year.
