The high budget, coupled with mixed reviews seem to be among the reasons that Jagga Jasoos has performed poorly at the ticket window.
Director Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos hasn’t earned a good number in the first weekend. The Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif-starrer has made Rs31.75 crore approximately in the first three days, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The number sounds decent under normal circumstances. In fact, this is the sixth highest opening of the year. But despite this, the numbers are not encouraging in the case of Jagga Jasoos. This is simply because of the high budget, which is reportedly over Rs100 crore. Hence, the Rs31.75 crore collection can be considered low here.
Jagga Jasoos opened to Rs8.25 crore on Friday. The figures for Saturday and Sunday were Rs11 crore and Rs12.50 crore, respectively. Although there was growth on the last two days, it wasn’t significant, especially considering its budget.
The task ahead for the film is quite steep. It requires very good numbers in the week days. But due to the low opening and mixed word-of-mouth and reviews, it looks difficult.
Jagga Jasoos is the first film under Kapoor and Basu’s firm, Pictureshuru Productions.
