Netflix India has announced its first series fresh on the heels of Amazon Prime Video's release of its first original series, Inside Edge this week. The series will be based on Vikram Chandra’s 2006 novel Sacred Games and will star Saif Ali Khan.

Chandra’s crime novel pits the Mumbai police against underworld gangsters. At the centre of the story is police officer Sartaj Singh who takes on the criminals and in particular the overlord of G-Company, Ganesh Gaitonde. The announcement of Khan as Sartaj Singh has already created a buzz for the series

Phantom Films, in partnership with Netflix India, will present the series which will be shot in India. The global series will be in English and Hindi. No release date has been set as yet.

Khan seems to be on a roll with quite a few projects lined up for release soon — Chef, Kaalakandi, Baazaar and Go Goa Gone 2.
