The shine of Tubelight seems to be fading fast. On its second Friday, the film managed a meagre Rs2 crore nett at the box office according to BoxOfficeIndia.com. This takes the overall collection of the film to Rs105 crore approximate.
While the film's performance at the box office has been dismal, it has still managed to touch the 'Rs100-crore' mark. However, this might prove inadequate to save the producer from heavy losses.
The film's budget totals to around Rs100 crore, excluding star Salman Khan's fees. This has led to some serious problems for distributors. As of yesterday, theatres have also cut down on screens for the film.
With the holiday weekend providing no advantage, the film is expected to see some revenue from the arriving weekend. However, the recent Goods and Service Tax (GST) bill might also play on the minds of audiences. Trade predicts that the film might even struggle to touch the Rs9 crore mark on the weekend.
As of date, the collection for Tubelight is as follows
Friday - Rs20.75 crore
Saturday - Rs19.75 crore
Sunday - Rs22.25 crore
Monday - Rs18.50 crore
Tuesday - Rs11.75 crore
Wednesday - Rs5.75 crore
Thursday - Rs4.25 crore
Second Friday - Rs2 crore
Total - Rs105 crore approximately
The film has the advantage of having no competition till next week when Sridevi-starrer, Mom, and the ensemble comedy, Guests iin London, will arrive in theatres.
