Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Nawazuddin, other stars mourn Om Puri's death

Several actors of this generation took to Twitter to condole the death of the veteran actor who passed away this morning.

Veteran actor Om Puri passed away due to a heart attack at his residence in Andheri, Mumbai on Friday morning. The versatile actor was 66 years old. The Padma Shri awardee and National Award winner leaves behind a great legacy for today's actors. 

Akshay Kumar, who has worked with Puri in several fims like Singh Is Kinng, Hera Pheri, OMG: Oh My God!, said,  "Sad to hear about the passing away of the very talented Om Puri, my co-actor in many films...heartfelt condolences to the family. #RIP."

Om Puri was one of the early torch bearers for Indians internationally as he starred in several Hollywood films in the 1990s like City Of Joy (1992) and Wolf (1994) during his 44 year career. 

Priyanka Chopra, who is known as a global star today and has worked with Puri in films like Don (2006), Don 2 (2011) and Agneepath (2012) wrote, "The end of an era .... The legacy lives on.. RIP #OmPuri."

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is hugely inspired by Puri and was supposed to work with him in the upcoming film Manto directed by Nandita Das, expressed his grief. "The Best Actor in World, An inspiration 2 me & many, he was suppose 2 work with me in Manto.Deeply saddened by da news, RIP #OmPuri Saab," he said. 

One of the youngest stars of Hindi cinema, Alia Bhatt, whose father has worked closely with Puri, wrote, "Deeply saddened to hear about #OmPuri sir! He was such a huge part of the core of Indian cinema..RIP ! Truly and end of an era."
