Republic Day brought good cheer for Raees and Kaabil, especially the latter which posted a nearly 90% growth in box-office earnings on 26 January. Expectedly, the two films saw a significant drop on day three (27 January), a working day. Raees saw a drop of 50%, while for Kaabil the drop was little more than 50%.
As per Box-OfficeIndia.com, Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees made nett collection of Rs13 crore (approximately) on 27 January, while Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil more or less matched its opening day collection bagging around Rs7-7.75 crore on day three.
Raees had posted around Rs26.25 crore nett on day two, while Kaabil had seen a jump of nearly 90% to earn Rs15.50 crore nett on its second day.
As reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com, the three-day total for Raees now stands at Rs59.50 crore nett, while for Kaabil it is Rs31 crore nett.
The competition is hurting both films, but Raees clearly has the upper hand as far as the box-office is concerned. Raees is made at a budget of approximately Rs85 crore and has been allotted over 3,400 theatre screens in India. Kaabil, made at an approximate budget of Rs60 crore, has got around 2,600 theatre screens in the country.
Both films are likely to see a jump over the weekend, but Kaabil will have to pump in significant earnings to propel its overall chances at the box-office.
