Bobby Deol and his inimitable dance moves: Birthday special

Dancing’s never been the Deols' forte, yet they’ve amused audiences with their dance style. Bobby Deol perhaps fared slightly better than his dad Dharmendra and brother Sunny.

Mayur Lookhar

Beauty lies in one's imperfection. One actor who's been accepted warts and all is Bobby Deol. While older brother Sunny Deol's stomping dance step is remembered even today, it is Bobby who went ahead to perform better in the dance department. Though we can't say the same about his acting (and more recently, DJing talent), Bobby's dance steps will surely cheer you up on a gloomy day.

As the actor turns 50 today (27 January), we celebrate appreciating some of Bobby's inimitable dance moves from the past.

'Tera Rang Balle Balle' – Soldier (1999)

Preity Zinta’s début film was a clichéd, loud, over-the-top action thriller. Neither Zinta nor Bobby are likely to rate Soldier among their best works. But, from the looks of it, both probably enjoy a good laugh watching dance moves in 'Tera Rang Balle Balle' song. These dance moves can best described as Bobby's attempt to making a chapati and then playing a cricket shot without the bat.

'Jeevan Mein Jaane Jaana' – Bichhoo (2000)

With a title like Bichchoo, let’s just say Bobby looks like he was stung by one (scorpion) in this song. Don't miss his good looks and enthusiastic headshake.

'Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela' – Gupt (1997)

This was a popular song, but the same cannot be said about its choreography. These steps may be imitated by someone having a stiff shoulder in the hope that some muscles might get relaxed.

'Teri Adaoo Pe' – Barsaat (1995)

Bobby and Twinkle Khanna made their debut with Sunil Darshan’s romantic drama Barsaat. Even those fringes on his jacket couldn't take away from the hilarity that's on display here.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom title song (2007)

Bobby was accompanied by Preity Zinta, Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta in this song, and yet managed to stand out with his coloured curls and sissy dancing. He stood a chance to have an alternate career as a cheerleader for an Indian Premiere League game.
