Shaad Ali’s OK Jaanu has failed at the box-office in the first week. After earning Rs3.50 crore on its first day, the film earned only Rs4.25 crore and Rs4 crore in the next two days. This only meant that the weekday collections would see a big drop and that is exactly what has happened.

The film earned only Rs1.50 crore on Monday and continued its downward trend for the rest of the week. OK Jaanu has ended its first week with a total of only Rs16.75 crore, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. As the film’s budget is reportedly around Rs28 crore, it now has no hopes of even recovering its cost, despite the fact that no important film is releasing this week.

OK Jaanu review: Shaad Ali's film fails to match his master's voice

Trade experts are of the view that the film’s extremely urban theme of live-in relationships isn’t going down well these days with the Indian audience. Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, OK Jaanu is the remake of Mani Ratnam's OK Kanmani (2015).

Deepika Padukone’s Hollywood debut, xXx: Return Of Xander Cage, which stars Vin Diesel in the lead, released a day later on Saturday. The film had a decent run in the first two days and Friday’s paid previews by earning Rs15.75 crore. However, the collections started going downhill from Monday onwards, making its first week stand at just Rs24 crore.

While these two films were facing troubled weather, Aamir Khan’s Dangal quietly continued its phenomenal run at the box-office. The Nitesh Tiwari-directed film has so far earned Rs362 crore and is still running in theatres!
