Mayur Lookhar
He is among Hindi cinema's more bankable stars, churning out two or three films every year, most of which do well at the box office. However, one thing missing from Akshay Kumar's cabinet is a Filmfare award for Best Actor. In the 1990s and early 2000s, neither fans nor critics were convinced about the star's acting chops, but the past five years have seen the Khiladi raise the bar for himself.
In 2016, Akshay Kumar had a hat-trick of Rs100 crore films with decent performances in Airlift, Rustom and Housefull 3.

We hope this fan does not mean what he/she said. Akshay Kumar will start shooting for wife Twinkle Khanna and R Balki’s production Padman.
Airlift is most critically acclaimed film of 2016. But still FakeFare ignored it. Shame @filmfare @jiteshpillaai

The fan questioned how Brothers (2015), which did not have great box-office numbers, was ignored by Filmfare while Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan (2016), a commercial failure, was nominated for an award. Khan has been nominated in the Best Actor category.

While his fans are venting their spleen, Akshay Kumar himself has rarely given much importance to awards. "You all know how these awards work in India. If I am asked to present an award, I can guess who is winning it on the basis of the ones who have attended it or rather the ones sitting in the front row,” the actor had remarked last year, mocking the various award functions.
Six actors have been nominated for Best Actor this year. They are Aamir Khan for Dangal, Salman Khan for Sultan, Shah Rukh Khan for Fan, Ranbir Kapoor for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Sushant Singh Rajput for MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Amitabh Bachchan for Pink and Shahid Kapoor for Udta Punjab.
