Aamir Khan’s Dangal beats PK to set record highest domestic nett collection
Mumbai - 11 Jan 2017 14:26 IST
Aamir Khan knows how to better himself. As expected, his latest release Dangal has surpassed the record of PK (2014) for the highest nett domestic collection.
Dangal bagged a nett collection of Rs3.75 crore on its third Tuesday (10 January) thereby taking its overall business to Rs341 crore (approximate), as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com. With this, Khan has bettered the record of his 2014 sci-fi social comedy PK, which had bagged Rs337 crore in domestic nett collections.
As reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com, Dangal had bagged Rs192.38 crore in its first week. It got over Rs110 crore in its second week, the third week total is currently standing at Rs37.75 crore, taking its overall business thus far to Rs341.63 crore (approximate).
Dangal also looks good to break the third-week record of PK, which had bagged Rs41.32 crore in that period.
While it is expected to surpass the Rs350 crore mark easily, the challenge now for Dangal would be to break the Rs400 crore barrier. Also, the next big challenge would be to break PK’s worldwide gross collection of Rs741 crore. After 17 days, Dangal has grossed Rs624 crore.
The collections are expected to slow down with big releases — Dharma Productions’ OK Jaanu on 13 January and Deepika Padukone’s Hollywood debut XXX: Return of the Xander Cage on 19 January.
