The start of the New Year also starts off the season of film awards. Out of these, the Filmfare Awards has been the most sought-after trophy for Hindi film stars. The nominations for this year’s awards are out. The list has the most appreciated films and most loved performances of 2016.

The war for the Best Film Award, the biggest honour, is between, Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal, Shakun Batra’s Kapoor And Sons, Ram Madhvani’s Neerja, Aniruddha Roy Chaudhary’s Pink, Ali Abbas Zafar’s Sultan and Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab.

Stars like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput for Dangal, Sultan, Fan, Pink, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Udta Punjab and M S Dhoni: The Untold Story, respectively, are competing for the Best Actor (Male) Award.
