Shahid Kapoor has given his best with Vishal Bhardwaj in both his films with the filmmaker — Kaminey (2009) and Haider (2014). So, naturally, a lot is expected from his performance in his upcoming film Rangoon with Bhardwaj.

Recently, veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor, who is Shahid’s father, attended a special screening of Rangoon. During the launch of an innerwear brand, Shahid revealed that when his father saw the film, he didn’t see his son in it. Confused? Well, let’s see his comment.

“He walked out of the theatre and he just looked at Vishal sir and he told him, 'You know, it was difficult to recognise my son in the film. He is playing Nawab Malik and I didn’t see Shahid Kapoor there'. That for me is a huge compliment because my father doesn’t say these things often. He said it once during Haider. So, for me that was a very emotional moment because he is very honest about this things,” he said.

There were questions raised about the absence of Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan, who also star in the film, from the special screening. Shahid cleared the air about the same.

"I was not invited to the screening. My dad was invited because Vishal sir has a long-standing relationship with him. So, before he showed the film to the official cast, he wanted to show it to people whose opinion he likes to take. I reached there uninvited. That’s why Saif and Kangana weren’t there. They didn’t know. I knew because dad told me so I just reached as I was very excited to see his response,” added Shahid.

Shahid will surely hope that the audience too doesn’t see him in Rangoon, just like his father did not.
