Shraddha Kapoor has acted in 10 films so far in her career. But Haseena: The Queen Of Mumbai, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, will be her first film where she is playing a titular role. The first poster of the film has released and it promises to be an intense underworld drama.

Mainstream Hindi cinema’s affair with the underworld has been a long one. But there has hardly been a film based on a female underworld don. The only name that comes to our mind is Ram Gopal Varma produced, Shabri (2011), where Esha Koppikar played the central character. Unfortunately, the film bombed at the box-office and is hardly remembered today.

Haseena is based on the life of Haseena Parkar, who was the sister of the most wanted gangster and terrorist, Dawood Ibrahim. After her brother fled from the country in the 1990s, Haseena looked after his brother’s business and criminal activities from Mumbai.

Going by the poster, Shraddha does look convincing. Of course, how well she has moulded herself in her most challenging character till date will be known only after we see the film. Haseena also stars Shraddha’s real brother, Siddhanth Kapoor. Interestingly, he also plays her on-screeen brother, Dawood.

During the shoot of the film, just recently, both Shraddha and Siddhant got so involved in a dramatic scene that they broke down in tears. The shoot had to be paused for an hour.

Haseena: The Queen Of Mumbai is all set to release on 14 July this year.
