The Badrinath Ki Dulhania actor also admitted that Govinda has been his inspiration for acting.

In the recently released trailer of Badrinath Ki Dulhania starring Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, the use of a zingy remake of 'Tamma Tamma Loge' from Thanedaar (1990) stands out. At the press conference for the trailer launch, Varun shared an interesting anecdote about the song which was originally picturised on Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit.
"I wouldn't like to call it a remake. 'Tamma Tamma Loge' is my jam. Much before I danced to it in the film (Badrinath Ki Dulhania), I remember working out in the gym to the song. The moment the song would play, I would start dancing, but Sanjay Dutt would then order me, 'beta, chal (weights) utha' (Son, lift the weights)," Varun said.
Since Varun's Main Tera Hero (2014), he has been compared to Govinda in his 90s films. Incidentally, Varun's father and director David Dhawan had a special bond with Govinda and they worked together in over a dozen films. Varun admitted to have been inspired by Govinda's Hero No.1 (1997).
"Right from being a child, I have been a big fan of Chi Chi (Govinda's pet name) bhaiyya, the three Khans and Akshay Kumar. These guys have paved the way for me to do cinema. Somewhere in my performance, these guys have played a part. What’s important is to be inspired by the right person," said Varun.
While Varun humbly accepted the Govinda tag, his Badrinath Ki Dulhania director Shashank Khaitan disagreed.
"I think it is really unfair to compare Varun with Govinda or anyone. I think he has managed to create his own identity," Khaitan said.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania is to be released on 10 March.
