Staying to true to his form, yet another Akshay Kumar film has done well at the box office in its first week. The Subhash Kapoor-directed Jolly LLB 2 has bagged Rs72.25 crore nett after seven days, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com. The Thursday collection stood around at Rs4.25 crore taking its seven-day total to Rs72.25 crore nett.

The film that had released on 10 February, had a good opening of around Rs12 crore and its collection rose to Rs16.25 crore and Rs19 crore on the weekend. The first Monday collection stood at Rs6.75 crore, while Valentine’s Day (14 February) saw a 30% jump with the film bagging Rs8.75 crore. The film has since collected Rs5.25 crore and Rs4.25 crore on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Released across 3,600 screens in India, and made at an estimated budget of Rs70 crore, the first-week collection of Jolly LLB 2 week can be called as good. But it falls behind Kumar’s last release Rustom which had bagged Rs90.9 crore in its first week. Rustom had a competitor in Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro which released on the same day.

With three new releases today — The Ghazi Attack, Running Shaadi and Irada, Jolly LLB 2 faces a tough task of crossing the Rs100-crore mark.

The Friday (17 February) business is key, and a lot will also depend upon the fate of the three new releases. Jolly LLB 2 is unlikely to come close to the highest grosser of 2017 so far, Raees, which has made Rs128.55 crore so far.
