Actor Akshay Kumar and actress Sonam Kapoor have revealed how one should pronounce the title of their Republic Day release. In a voiceover of the motion poster for Pad Man (2018), Rhea (Kapoor) is heard explaining to Lakshmikant Chauhan (Akshay) that it is two separate words, P-A-D M-A-N and not Padman, as was being said so far.

The village simpleton that he is, Lakshmikant initially pronounces Pad Man as Padman (Hindu name). Pad Man is a film with a unique subject that addresses the issue of personal sanitation for women.

The film is not inspired by the real life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who devised a machine for making low-cost sanitary napkins for the women in his village. Director Balki has shown through the motion poster that Pad Man will be both entertaining, as well as educative.

Pad Man will be released on 26 January 2018.
