Director Satish Rajwade’s Mumbai Pune Mumbai 3 went on the floors yesterday. Starring Swwapnil Joshi and Mukta Barve, this is the third film in the Mumbai Pune Mumbai franchise. The film will be released on 27 April 2018.
The Mumbai Pune Mumbai 3 team shot a mahurat shot of scene 21. A picture of the clapboard was shared on social media by the film’s producers, Everest Entertainment.
The first film, Mumbai Pune Mumbai (2010) became an instant hit and the lead actors Joshi and Barve also became a much loved pair. The second film, Mumbai Pune Mumbai 2 (2015) also worked at the box office despite the fact that it was released alongside Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) during Diwali.
In the franchise, Joshi's character hails from Pune and Barve's from Mumbai. The love story also shows the sweet battle between neighbouring cities Mumbai and Pune.
In an official statement, Rajwade had said in October, “While making the first film, we never imagined that the audience would love it so much. MPM (Mumbai Pune Mumbai) is considered as a cult film now and it started a trend of love stories in Marathi. The audience is now excited to know what is happening in Gautam and Gauri’s life. This is because they feel it is their story.”
