Last week, Marathi cinema fans were in for a pleasant surprise when Ajay Devgn announced that he would be producing his first Marathi film, Aapla Manus, which will be directed by Satish Rajwade.

Rajwade shared the film's first poster on Facebook. It has the film’s lead actor, Nana Patekar, sitting heroically on a bike sporting a helmet and a sling-bag. The heavy rains and the stormy clouds in the background adds more drama to the visuals. With this film, Patekar returns to Marathi cinema after the critically acclaimed Natsamrat in 2016,  which was a box office success.

Aapla Manus also stars Sumeet Raghavan and Iravati Harshe who was recently appreciated for her perfromance Kaasav (2017) and Hindi movie Monsoon Shootout (2017).

Although the story of the film is not yet disclosed, according to sources in the industry, the film is an adaptation of a Marathi play.

While announcing the project, Devgn had earlier said, “I have a relation with Maharashtra since my birth. I have always had respect for the Marathi language, but after marrying Kajol, I got in love with the language. Because of this culture, Marathi cinema has its own following. To join this industry, I am coming up with my first Marathi film Aapla Manus.”

The film is set to be released on 9 February 2018.
