Mammootty fan arrested for cyber-bullying actress Parvathy

Trouble started for the actress after she said that some of the dialogues in Kasaba (2016), starring Mammootty, were prejudiced against women.

The Kochi police today arrested a fan of Malayalam star Mammootty for 'cyber-bullying' actress Parvathy after she publicly said some of the dialogues in the Mammootty-starrer Kasaba (2016) were strongly prejudiced against women.

Pinto, a person hailing from Wadakanchery near Kochi, was arrested by the police and, during questioning, said he is part of the Mammootty fan club in his area. The police have indicated that more arrests are likely.

Trouble started for the award-winning actress after she expressed reservations regarding the dialogues mouthed by Mammootty in the film at the recently concluded International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

She, however, did not take any names when expressing her reservations about the dialogues.

Since then, social media was full of angry responses against the actress. When the abuse began crossing the limit and becoming threatening, Parvathy filed a police complaint in Kochi, following which the cyber police swung into action.

In the film that was released in 2016, Mammootty played a police officer and the comments from the actress irked a section of the star's huge fan base in the state.
