The BJP member was criticized for praising Narendra Modi after having earlier said he was wary of the party’s chances in Gujarat.

One ought to choose one's words carefully, especially in politics. Yet, veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha is not one of those to mince his words.

The actor has been in the news in recent times for criticizing his own Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the run-up to the Gujarat assembly election. The results were declared today with the BJP scoring a hard-fought win over the Congress.

Despite his differences with the party brass, Sinha congratulated prime minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and Union finance minister Arun Jaitley on Twitter.

Unfortunately, Sinha’s earlier critical comments came back to haunt him and the actor was trolled by BJP supporters online.

Sinha was least perturbed by the trolls and like a true sport he also congratulated rival leader and Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Sinha held key positions during the previous BJP government led by prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Sinha has long harboured the ambition of being Bihar chief minister. Sinha’s earlier criticism of Modi, and the BJP, was perceived as a result of his frustration at not getting any active role in the party.
