Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan continues to keep everyone guessing over his politcal career.
The actor is widely believed to be planning to float his own party. However, his political leanings are not yet known.
Kamal Haasan wholeheartedly congratulated newly appointed Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Twitter today.
The actor tweeted his wishes heaping praise not only on Gandhi but also the previous leader in the family, Sonia Gandhi.
Kamal Haasan wrote on Twitter.
Congratulations Mr. Rahul.G. Your seat does not define you but you can define your position. I have admired your elders. I am sure you would work and deserve my admiration too. All the strength to your shoulders.

However, Kamal Haasan's praise of Gandhi should not be taken as a sign that the actor might align with the Congress. In the past, the actor has praised leaders from other political parties as well.
Kamal Haasan was earlier an admirer of the Bharatiya Janata Party and prime minister Narendra Modi, but ever since he declared his political ambition, the filmmaker has been critical of the ruling party, slamming policies like demonetization and expressing concern over violence in the name of religion.
In November, the actor had suggested that he would announce the launch of his party in January 2018.
