Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma might have stolen the thunder from under Rajinikanth's nose, but his fans have kept his flag flying high. The actor celebrated his 67th birthday in style by launching a new look from his upcoming film, Kaala. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film is set to release next year.

The announcement arrived on 11 December, when actor Dhanush tweeted about the launch of the new look on the senior actor's birthday. Dhanush wrote 'Will be launching kaalaa 2 nd look tonight at 12 am for superstars birthday .. look forward to the swag of superstar'

The new look features the senior actor in an all black avatar, surrounded by rising dust. The actor looks serious with his powdered hair and salt and pepper beard, while a stylish pair of shades cover his eyes.

Produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films and Lyca Productions, Kaala is directed by Pa Ranjith. This will be the director's second collaboration with Rajinikanth after Kabali (2016).

Set in Mumbai and Chennai, the film marks the rise of a gangster from Tamil Nadu who fights for the rights of the underprivileged Tamils in Mumbai. Kaala also stars Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil and several others in key roles.

The film is expected to release in 2018.
