The suspense is over as India’s cricket captain Virat Kohli and his long-time actress-producer girlfriend Anushka Sharma tied the knot at a private ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, today.

As soon as the couple confirmed their wedding, wishes began to pour in from fans as well as members of India's vast cricket and film fraternities.

Riteish Deshmukh congratulated the couple and promptly demoted Kohli, India's captain, to vice-captain in his new innings.

Sonam Kapoor, Sharma’s co-star in the forthcoming Sanjay Dutt biopic being directed by Rajkumar Hirani, congratulated the beautiful couple.

Abhishek Bachchan, who is married to fellow artiste Aishwarya Rai, welcomed Kohli and Sharma to the club of married folk.

Mehreen Peerzada, Anushka Sharma’s co-star in Phillauri (2017), looked forward to welcoming the newlyweds back home.

#NoFilterNeha host Neha Dhupia wished the couple in her own inimitable style.

Seasoned actor Anil Kapoor also wished the pair.

Wishes poured in from the cricketing fraternity, too. Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who is himself married to one-time film actress Geeta Basra, was among the first to wish the couple.

Also greeting the couple was former India captain Sourav Ganguly.

Southpaw Suresh Raina, currently out of the Test and one-day team, said there can be no better union than the union of love.

Unlike the monumental series-turning innings of 281 with which his name shall forever be associated, former India batsman VVS Laxman kept his wishes short.

With the annoucement coming late in the Indian evening, expect more wishes to pour in tomorrow. Mr and Mrs Kohli will be hosting a reception in New Delhi on 21 December and throwing another bash in Mumbai on 26 December.
