The business of director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba’s Fukrey Returns has turned out to be a pleasant surprise for the industry. The film continued its good run yesterday (Sunday) as it made Rs12.50-12.75 crore, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. The grand total for the film now stands at Rs31.65 crore.
The film, starring Varun Sharma, Richa Chadha, Pulkit Samrat, Ali Fazal and Manjot Singh, opened well on Friday with Rs8 crore. The film, which is the sequel to the 2013 hit Fukrey, showed some growth on Saturday by earning Rs11 crore. It sustained that growth on Sunday.
Fukrey Returns is now in the list of top 10 first weekend businesses of 2017. It is currently on the 10th position behind the Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Baadshaho (2017), which had made Rs36.28 crore in the first three days.
In this race, Fukrey Returns has managed to beat films with big stars like Jagga Jasoos, Kaabil and Half Girlfriend.
It is reportedly made at a budget of Rs30 crore. As the film has surpassed the score in the first weekend itself, it has a chance of being a profit making venture.
The fact that no big film is scheduled to be released this week will only help its cause.
