Sridevi in talks with Netflix for an original series?


The video-on-demand giant has already signed on Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui for an original series based on Vikram Chandra's Sacred Games.

The battle between the internet giants Amazon and Netflix over its Indian content is only heating up. Netflix, which has already signed on Shah Rukh Khan for film streaming rights, is now reportedly in talks with Sridevi over a new original series.

An entertainment website, Spotboye, reported that the actress recently met with Swati Shetty, a producer at Netflix, over new shows under production. The news comes only months after Sridevi appeared in her second Hindi film in five years, Ravi Udyawar's thriller, Mom (2017).

The battle between the two US based digital giants, Amazon and Netflix, over their India space is raging. Amazon India has already tied up with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment to produce Inside Edge, their first India original video-on-demand (VOD) series. They are also in talks with Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti over another original series.

At the same time, Netflix has signed on Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui for a webseries based on Vikram Chandra's bestselling novel, Sacred Games.

It is unknown if Sridevi is being signed on for the same series, or for another one.Netflix is also in talks with writer Marisha Mukherjee for a female-led supernatural detective series, Again. Mukherjee has previously worked on American TV shows like Quantico, Justified and Heroes Reborn has already been signed on the project.

For now though, the actress has kept any cards about her next project close to her heart.
