Indu Sarkar review: A stuttering voice, but one that needs to be heard

They praised Kulhari for her portrayal of the titular character, Indu Sarkar, and for her handling of a complex character and story.

Kulhari said in a statement: "As an actor, it's always special to have your work being appreciated. Advaniji, who witnessed the times of the Emergency, said he liked my work and it means a lot to me. I hope to continue doing the kind of work that can strike a chord with the audience."

Indu Sarkar, which was released on 28 July, is set against the backdrop of the 1975-77 Emergency. It has characters inspired by the late prime minister Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi, leading various Congress politicians, including Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam, to slam it.
