The Kerala High Court has again turned down the bail plea of Malayalam actor Dileep. He has been arrested for allegedly masterminding the kidnap and sexual assault of a popular south Indian actress by a gang of men in February this year.

It may be recalled that this is the third time that a court has turned down a bail plea of the actor in this case. Immediately after his arrest on 10 July, Dileep applied for a bail at the trial court in Angamaly, which was promptly denied. Thereafter, he went to the High Court asking for bail on 24 July, that was also denied.

The actor chose to approach the High Court a second time under the guidance of a new lawyer, Raman Pillai. However, the court, this morning, rejected his bail application yet again.

The prosecution, which submitted a detailed list of fresh evidence, contended that granting bail to Dileep could hamper the probe as he was a man of influence.
