Kangana Ranaut, who is gearing up for her next, Simran, has clarified that she has not directed the film.

The film has been surrounded by controversies with Ranaut allegedly wielding more clout in the process of filmmaking.

There were rumours of Ranaut even ghost directing the film. Producer and director Hansal Mehta had earlier rubbished all such reports. Ranaut finally took it upon herself to ridicule such reports saying she had not directed the film.

"I have not done anything to do with direction in Simran. I have acted in it and written it. If I had directed the film, I would have proudly said it, but I have not done it," Ranaut said at a conclave in New Delhi.

After allegedly removing original writer Apurva Asrani, Ranaut took on the task of scripting herself. Ranaut is credited for 'additional story'.

Meanwhile, Ranaut also hit out at award functions which she said carried a bias.

“There is a lot of manipulation in our award shows. Like they will tell you in advance that you will get this award, but will ask to perform for them. I try to stay away from all this," she said.

Simran is set to be released on 15 Spetember.
