Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Bareilly Ki Barfi had a decent second weekend. The film, starring Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao, earned Rs5 crore in this period, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The film didn’t open well on its first day, earning only Rs2.25 crore. There was a jump in the next two days of the weekend. The total collection of the first three days came up to Rs10.75 crore.
Bareilly Ki Barfi got positive reviews and word-of-mouth. Hence, it had a steady run on the weekdays. It finished the first week with Rs18.37 crore approximately. After making Rs5 crore in the second weekend, its grand total stands at Rs23.37 crore approximately as of now.
The film is reportedly made at a cost of Rs20 crore. So, it has finally managed to surpass that number. It will need to keep earning well from today onwards to make it a safe bet for the producers.
Akshay Kumar-starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha finished its third weekend on Rs4.75 crore. Its total currently stands at Rs126.94 crore approximately. The actor’s highest grossing film in India is Rowdy Rathore (2012), which made Rs131 crore. Toilet makers will hope to go past that figure. But the film is already a hit.
However, it is strange that we are almost in the ninth month of the year and not a single film has reached close to Rs140 crore.
