The collaboration with Priyanka Chopra over a television series based on her life seems to have spurred something in Madhuri Dixit. The actress is now planning to turn producer with a Marathi film, scheduled for a release in 2018. In a report by Mumbai Mirror, Dixit-Nene admitted that it will be a family entertainer.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Dixit said, "I’m excited to step into this new role and start work on my debut production. Over the years, the Marathi film industry has evolved a lot. Since it’s a family entertainer, we have an equally warm team onboard. I’m looking forward to the shoot."

The film is expected to be launched under RnM Moving Pictures, a vertical helmed by her husband, Dr Shriram Nene. So far, the company has focussed on health, lifestyle and gaming ventures, but is now planning to step out into Marathi cinema, and possibly, Hindi films as well.

The yet untitled project will be written by screenwriter Yogesh Joshi, who has previously worked on Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008) and the Marathi hit, Tendulkar Out (2013). The film will be directed by Swapnaneel Jayakar, who is currently helming the on-going Marathi comedy on television, Chuk Bhul Dhyavi Ghyavi.

Speaking about the project, Jayakar said, "I am a big fan and like many others around the world, I too want to see what she’s like on a film set as a first-time producer. What more could an artiste wish for?"

Dixit is already on-board with Priyanka Chopra for a television series based on her own life in America. The series has been greenlit by ABC network, and is written by Sri Rao. It is being produced by Quantico producers, Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper, in association with Priyanka Chopra.
