The Madras high court has ordered the owner of the building in which a branch of Latha Rajinikanth's Ashram school was being run to immediately unseal the building.

It may be recalled that on 16 August, the owner of the building in Guindy, Venkateswarulu, had locked the gates of the school saying that the school administration had defaulted on payment of rent. The amount that the school administration owed him, the owner claimed, was around Rs10 crore.

As a result, the school administration had to move the students to another branch of the school being run in Velachery.

Under these circumstances, director Aishwarya Dhanush, the daughter of Latha Rajinikanth, filed a plea in the Madras high court in which she claimed that the move to lock the building by the owners had brought disrepute to the school.

She sought a direction to the landowners, asking them to unseal the school immediately. The plea came up for hearing today.

The judge, while keeping the welfare of the students in mind, ordered the owners to immediately unseal the building. He also ordered that a report be filed on the whether the school been unlocked before 3 pm this afternoon.
