Randeep Hooda has come out in support of Sonu Nigam’s attack against the playing of loudspeakers at mosques and other places of worship. The actor got onto his Twitter page late last night and reacted to news about the singer’s effigy being burnt in Bikaner.

He said, “If you are so against fanaticism.. the solution does not lie in propagating it in another form .. in my opinion it lies in dousing the fire.”

He followed it up with open support for Nigam, which was in response to a comment by a religious fanatic. “What @sonunigam meant was against #loudspeakers not against a religion .. anyone doing is against #CivicSense and should be curtailed ..,” he added.

The singer has already received support from the likes of veteran actor Anupam Kher, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya.

Nigam has been in the news this past week after he posted a series of tweets for being woken up by azaan on early Monday morning. He said, “God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India. And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?”

He later on tried clarifying that he is not against any religion by saying, “I don't believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity To wake up people who don't follow the religion . Why then..? Honest? True?”

But his last tweet made eyebrows raise the most when he added, “Gundagardi hai bus...” Since then, the issue has spiralled into a serious debate.
