As expected, the release date of Jagga Jasoos has been pushed back once again. The film will now hit the theatres on 14 July, instead of the earlier announced date of 12 May.

Speaking at a media event on 11 April, Ranbir Kapoor confirmed the same. “Jagga Jasoos is my first film as producer. We wrapped up the final shoot yesterday. The film will release on 14 July,” he said.

Given that Kapoor and his leading lady in the film, Katrina Kaif have broken up, rumours about Kaif not willing to promote Jagga Jasoos have been doing the rounds. Kapoor though has denied all such rumours.

“There’s nothing like that. It is her film as much as it my film. Katrina has worked really hard for this film. Jagga Jasoos is also Katrina’s film. We will promote and release it in a big way. We hope to get all the support from you (media) guys,” he said.

Jagga Jasoos has taken a while to make, with director Anurag Basu reshooting a lot of portions. Kapoor's commitment to Bombay Velvet and Tamasha caused further shooting delays. Kapoor and Kaif's break up is also said to have caused some trouble towards the end.

The trailer of the film was released on 20 December last year and it received a positive response.

Kapoor also stated how he had finished shooting 60% of the Sanjay Dutt biopic. When asked whether shooting for the biopic has resulted in any change in his life, Kapoor said, "I don't think I can ever be like Sanjay Dutt. I’m enjoying working on this film. Perhaps we will get an idea (how playing Dutt's role has affected him) once the film releases.”

The actor was speaking on the sidelines of the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards, where he was honoured.

“I feel proud to receive such honour from Lokmat. I owe my success to Mumbai and Maharashtra. I hope to keep making Lokmat proud,” said Kapoor.

With the Jagga Jasoos release date now pushed to 14 July, it will compete against Sridevi's Mom, which is slated to be released on the same day.
