The first day collections of Rahul Bose's Poorna turned out to be dismal.

The Taapsee Pannu starrer, Naam Shabana, managed decent collections on its first day yesterday. The film earned Rs4.75 crore in India, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. Directed by Shivam Nair, it is a spin off to Neeraj Pandey’s acclaimed Baby (2015), which starred Akshay Kumar.

The film has been released in over 2000 screens, out of which 800 are single screens, which makes it a wide release. Hence, despite a decent start, the occupancy percentage is quite low.

The first day collections of Naam Shabana are very similar to Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira (2016), which earned Rs4.81 crore approximately. That film was also a woman oriented action film that was released in a large number of screens.

Naam Shabana is reportedly made at a budget of around Rs25 crore approximately. So, the film requires a good jump in collections today (Saturday) and Sunday to have a good chance of becoming a profitable venture.

Yesterday also saw the release of the Rahul Bose starrer, Poorna, which turned out to be a washout. Hollywood films, Power Rangers and Boss Baby also hit the theatres. Boss Baby managed to earn better than Power Rangers and Poorna.

Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri had a big fall yesterday, the first day of its second week. The film earned only Rs50 lakh, which takes it overall tally to Rs20.75 crore approximately. With its budget reportedly being around Rs21 crore, it is not expected go too far from that number.
