A few days ago, there were murmurs that Vivek Oberoi would be playing a character based on former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi. As it turns out, Oberoi will be part of Karan Anshuman's webseries Power Play, but will not play Modi.

Confirming the same, Anshuman told Cinestaan.com, "Vivek Oberoi is not playing a character similar to Lalit Modi. It is a completely fictional show."

While Anshuman did not elaborate on what Oberoi's character was, he admitted that the show was first proposed to Eros International’s over-the-top (OTT) platform ErosNow.

"We had initial talks with Eros, as with others. It was same as shopping for any idea/project," confirmed Anshuman.

Power Play is set to appear on online merchant Amazon's soon-to-be-launched OTT service Amazon Prime. Power Play is said to be based on the match-fixing saga in the IPL. The 12-episode webseries also has Richa Chaddha and Angad Bedi.
