Karan Johar loves to give us gems. They were lines like ‘Pyar dosti hai’ or ‘Kuch kuch hota hai Anjali tum nahi samjhogi’ or ‘Hum ek baar jeete hain, ek baar marte hain, aur pyar bhi ek hi baar hota hai’ in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).
In Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham (2001) it was family gyan like ‘Vada karo ki tum hamari parampara ka palan karoge, vada karo ki tum is parivar ki izzat par kabhi aanch nahi aane doge.’
And remember ‘Ajnabiyon ki baat sun leni chahiye ... kabhi kabhi ajnabi apno se zyada jaante hain’ and ‘Kabhi kabhi dosti mohabbat ki jagah le leti hai ... aur phir mohabbat ke liye jagah hi nahin rehti’ in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (2006)? May be, or may be not!
Well, Johar is directing after a considerable gap (his last film Student of The Year released in 2012) and he is back in form when it comes to his dialogue writing.
While we don’t like taking love, friendship, family and relationship gyan from strangers, Johar is no stranger to us. He has been giving away philosophical advice through dialogues in his films for many years now. Its fun when its a Karan Johar film, isn’t it? And that’s what we have come to expect from the director too.
So here is Johar playing a love guru and imparting some very important lessons on love that we may not have ever learned otherwise. And if not for Johar's filmy dialogues we woud have never come to understand that 'Ek mard ka sir sirf teen auraton ke saamne jhukta hai. Ek apni ma ke saamne, ek durga ma ke saamne aur...'
Here are Ae Dil Hai Mushkil's poignant dialogues.
Love tedha hai — Love is twisted.
Pyar me junoon hai par dosti me sukoon hai — Love is passion, friendship is peace.
Kisi ne aapko suddenly chata mara hai? Us chaate ko ishq kehte hain – Has anyone slapped you? That slap is all called love.
Mai kisi ki zaroorat nahi khwaish banna chahti hoon — I don’t want to become someone’s desire, not need.
Asaan hai kya aisi mohobbat karna jiske badle mohobbat na mile! — It’s not easy to have that kind of love, when you don’t get the same love in return!
Ajeeb kahani hai pyar aur dosti ke rishte ki — The story of the relationship between love and friendship is strange.
Pyar hamara hero aur dosti hamari heroine — Love is our hero and friendship is heroine.
