Actress Soha Ali Khan was taken aback by criticism on social media following her visit to Golden Temple in Amritsar and a Ganpati pandal in Mumbai. Khan had tweeted about her visit to a Ganesh pandal in Andheri, Mumbai.
Soon after the post, Khan was trolled by some who deemed her visit as a publicity stunt for her upcoming release 31st Octboer. Some didn't even hesitate in terming her act as unbecoming of a Muslim.
The actress, though, was unfazed by such criticism stating that going to a temple doesn't make her a non-Muslim .
"I am all for freedom of expression, but being told how going to a temple makes me a non-Muslim is plain callous. No one has the right to say that. Whether I choose to do namaz or go to a church, how does it affect anyone? Nobody owns me. India being a secular nation, we have to respect all religions and each other’s choices,” Khan said in a statement.
On the occasion of Eid, Khan urged people to spread love and not hatred.
Peace and goodwill to all this Eid. Let us give of ourselves without expecting from others and spread only love not hate. #EidMubaarak— Soha Ali Khan (@sakpataudi) September 13, 2016
The actress marks her return to Hindi films after break of two years. 31st October releases on 7 October 2016.
